Sam is perhaps the most loyal member of the
Salieri family, whose rules he strictly adheres to.
He holds the position of soldato (pawn), working his way up to lieutenant (caporegime). He often gets into trouble, from which
his partners Tommy and
Paulie have to save him.
Compared to Paulie, Sam is more serious, calm and even quite arrogant.
It is ultimately he who, in the final part of the story, puts into practice the sentence that
was passed on Tommy and Paulie by
Salieri after the bank robbery.
